The Artist as Megalomaniac 9/11

This episode Alva Bernadine shows pictures from his violence series. He was down the library when he realised that most of the books in the fiction section featured violence in one form or other and you can't sit down for an evenings viewing in front of the TV without encountering it. The portrayal of violence seems to be a shortcut to intense emotion. Here is Bernadine's meditation on violence. In fact, Alva Bernadine has started referring to himself in the third person which is always worrying

Say this in a whiny voice: "Where do you get your ideas from?" This is the irritating question nearly every creative person is asked. In this episode I show you where I get my ideas from, the strategies I use to come up with them and how an innocuous picture can lead to a novel image. See illustrated examples from my sketch books and comparisons to the finished photograph. Watch this and you'll be taking pictures just like me.
